Happy New Year Gulf Shores High School!
As the new semester starts, I wanted to remind you that we have three more rounds of Outward Bound Impact courses for Spring of 2012. I’ve attached the most current brochure and application that you can pass on to teachers, students and families. You can refer any student who is struggling in school and can contact me directly. Remember that this opportunity is offered to families at no charge as it is funded by a grant from Impact 100 Baldwin County.
Also, check out our new website at www.alabamaoutwardboundschool.org
We look forward to working with you and your students this spring!

Thanks to Baldwin County Schools, United Way and Impact 100; we are now accepting applications for Outward Bound’s Impact Program. A 10-day program for Baldwin County students at risk of school failure and dropping out of school.
2011-2012 Course Dates
February 8 – 15, 2012
March 7 – 14, 2012
March 21 – 28, 2012
The purpose of these programs is to re-engage students in school who are exhibiting the early warning signs of school failure and drop out because of behavioral issues, truancy, poor school participation or pre-delinquent behavior. Our programs emphasize academic achievement, character development and social responsiblity to reduce the risk of dropping out of school.
Activities include canoeing and camping on the Tensaw and Conecuh Rivers, character development education, individualized academic goal planning, team building and problem solving activities and visits with the student and his or her teachers after the expedition.

"I have been in the public school environment for over 10 years as a teacher. I see students everyday who lack discipline and structure...I strongly feel that programs such as Outward Bound can benefit all kinds of students."
